This quote reminds me of my latest work, a website that was launched today for Philip Burley. Crafting this amazing website with Philip brought me great joy and insight, as I was blessed to share my expertise and creativity while receiving the gift of his peaceful presence and masterful expression.

The unique graphical element created for this site allows viewers to feel like they are with Philip, experiencing his own unique essence, as I did when working with him. What a gift!

In addition to sharing the essence of his energy, this new site offers a wealth of 33 pages of information regarding his work, including an explanation of spiritual channeling, it’s purpose and benefits, as well as how Philip Burley channels Saint Germain. Also included are the numerous wonderful books of this prolific author. http://www.philipburley.com is completed with a custom CMS coded in valid xHTML / CSS, SEO, and one of my favorite footers of all time.

For more information on creating a wonderful website please visit Conscious Web Design.

A client contacted my yesterday to discuss his website’s low search engine ranking. I took a look at his website and, after working out a contract, I began a deeper investigation of his site and it’s findability. First I found that his previous web person had moved him into WordPress about three years ago, but left his old website (.html) files live on the server. Google and other search engines frown on sloppiness, so this was the first snaffoo I corrected.

The next problem I found was worse: the new WordPress template actually had robots.txt telling the servers not to crawl his WordPress website! Hmmm, that would definitely lower your findability!

Although this client has a very nice looking website, it was a mess behind the scenes. While the site was navigable and each page worked, the coding was just plain bad. Unfortunately, I see this a lot. It’s a classic example of what happens when web builders don’t understand the basics of Search Engine Optimization, or SEO. To correct the situation, I moved his WordPress to a new hosting, upgraded it and reformatted the coding so search engines would approve of it. I also made further SEO updates to help him score higher in the world of ranking.

I never know what I’ll find when I explore behind the scenes of a site, but I do know that, once I’ve done the work of SEO, the site will be found and liked by search engines.

Website design covers a vast dichotomy on the internet. From the super plain to the ultra flashy, from the quiet and dull to the loud and bright. Some are very basic, simple content and a logo, while others are a wild picturesque display of divine creativity and insight. And, of course, there’s everything in between.

Creating and choosing a design for your website requires care and attention to who you are, and what you are showing and giving the world. The design of a website communicates a feeling or impression of who the person or company is. Personally, I prefer a simple, elegant design that totally allows you to see and feel the essence of the business while it not being a distraction from what they are offering.

Conscious Web Design creates a unique and original design for every client. We hold the importance of design in high regard. Your design is like your energy signature, like the first impression you give someone. It sticks with people, consciously and subconsciously. If you want to make a good impression, it’s all about design.

In my experience of helping hundreds of different people create their websites, the most common hurtle people face is writing their content. For most, their desired design and layout vision come relatively easy. But when it comes to describing who they are and what they are here to do, the task becomes more difficult.

What I’ve realized, along with these clients, is that this process of writing the content for an “About” page, for example, requires that we learn more about who we are in order to articulate it to others clearly. Fear may come up for some people about either not being good enough, or sounding egotistical, or about being judged or not accepted. The process of writing content for your website may also make you ponder more deeply what you really do offer your audience, and
how to best communicate that.

Fortunately, there are many tools and resources available to assist in writing and marketing strategies. The most important thing is to be in a space of acceptance, or contentment, about yourself: be happy with who you are and what you have to offer. If your website is for a larger business, be happy about your business: your contentment will shine through your words and attract those who value this quality of magnetic, non-needy expression.

Give yourself a deep breath, relax and know everything is inside of you. You can create what ever you can have. Decide that you can have being content with yourself and writing about yourself and your business from that place of acceptance. Take a moment to write out a few categories you may want to incorporate into your website, such as: biography or about page, services page, media page. Now write down a few key points about each of these sections. This is a great way to get started if you feel stuck about writing content. Ultimately, it’s about connecting with your creativity and self-expression. The details will follow.

I meet many people who have websites, some very beautiful and costly. But almost all of these websites do not exist according to search engines. If you type a keyword in google you may have to push “next” about 47 times before their website appears on the list. Are they likely to have traffic to their website beyond their sphere of personal interactions? Not much. These websites are an online version of a portfolio or expanded business card, for which the link must be given to someone directly in order for them to find it.

This is the norm. Very few people take the next step in their web presence by finding a webmaster who can truly help them on their journey to success. A skilled and knowledgeable Search Engine Optimizer is key to creating a website that is readily findable. SEO ensures that your website is highly attractive to search engines, and thus to anyone using search engines. Having keyword phrases for the search engines, and optimizing your website to allow those keywords to work for you, will significantly boost traffic to your website.

Simply put, Search Engine Optimization will bring people to your website. Although, bringing people to a poorly designed or coded website will not necessarily bring you the results you want either. Ultimately, SEO enhances a good website. The foundation is the excellent design and precise coding.

Contact Conscious Web Design for the most divine website, and also ask about having your website actually come up high in the search engines.
